First off, I ain’t dead. The Kid and I are okay, We have just become a little disenchanted with social media as of late. It’s kinda hard for us to share our creative endeavors when our largest audience is on a platform owned by a dumpster fire.
Rest assured, though, the DedicatedGaz Duo ain’t gone. We are simply regrouping. Lately we have been looking into the blue sky thingamajig.
In any event, I have a little sister now. Great… just what I always wanted … no wait…. I never once asked for a little sister.
Okay, so most of you have heard about Digimon Liberator, right? The Digimon Card Game? Well, David has been playing it a lot lately. I am actually pretty proud of the Kid. He’s been sticking to just his usual Machinedramon decks, and has a new Wicked God Deck. But other than that the Kid hasn’t been overspending like he has in the past. Good for him.
A little over a week ago, the Kid was practicing when he encountered a stray Bulucomon. They are normally pretty rare, but for some reason they seem to be pretty popular in Liberator lately. I even heard a rumor about a top level Game Debugger using one in her deck. The one David encountered was in pretty bad shape. Roughed up and barely remembering who she was. She couldn’t even tell us how she got where she was David took her home, and over the next few days we nursed her back to health.
Problem is, she’s a little foggy on who she is. She remembers something about being a member of an army of Ice Knights. She distinctly remembers that just before we found her she was on a mission with several other Knights. However, they became outnumbered, and her commanding officer ordered a full retreat. She, however, was left behind. Sounds kinda suspicious. If you ask me, it sounds like she was used as a decoy by her commanding officer.
After the Holiday weekend, David had to go back to work. He didn’t feel comfortable leaving her home alone, so he asked his boyfriend to keep an eye on her. You see, Dan used to raise Digimon back in the 90’s. Like David, he used to have one of the original V-Pets. Unlike David, however, he didn’t continue raising Digimon after the V-Pet era. Nevertheless, David did not feel comfortable leaving the poor girl all alone, so he asked Dan to lend a hand. I took pity on them and said I would help Dan keep an eye on her. Big mistake.
After just a few days, Dan got attached to her. He even named her! He said it was weird that I was Grizzly, but she was still called by her Digimon name. So he said he would start calling her Sara. He always liked the name, and he said something about a video game character she reminds him of. Everyone knows you don’t name strays. That’s how you get attached.
And that’s what brings me to writing this blog. This morning Dan made us breakfast. Sara smiles and says “it’s like we’re the children and you’re the dad!”.
I was not amused. “I am not a child! I practically raised David. And just because the Kid likes Dan doesn’t mean he’s like a Dad to me. David isn’t even like a Dad to me. I’m only here to make sure Dan doesn’t lose you or something while David is at work. I’m a lone wolf!”
“You are not! Everyone knows it’s just an act. You try to be tough but we all know it’s just because you care.”. Sara laughed. “Fine, we aren’t Dan’s children. But at the very least you’re becoming my grumpy big brother.”
“Shut up and eat your eggs.” I groaned
She’s a spunky girl, I’ll give he that. I just wonder what her real story is. Only time will tell.
Wish me luck with her!
Grizzly.
