Other Worlds Tour: Infested Digimon in Liberator!

“It was me and the NPC’s  Black Rapidmon.  Neither David or the NPC had any security, but Black Rapidmon had blocker as an inherited effect.  If I attacked, he would block, and then on the next turn he could win. But!  I told the Kid to use Absolute Blast, returning the Black Rapidmon to the deck!  I attacked and we won!”  Sara proudly declared from over her dinner plate.

“Okay, first of all, you don’t get to call David ‘the Kid’. Second of all…”  I hesitated, and decided not to give her a hard time. “Second of all.  Cool win, I guess.”‘

David, Dan, Sara, and I were gathered around having dinner.  Sara and David have been trying to track down The Infestation,  a group of berserk Digimon from Sara’s home world.  Earlier in the day, Sara found an Infested Gargomon, and before they were able to confront it, it took over an NPC and a Card Battle begun.   Sara was explaining to us how she and David won.

Despite her victory, Sara looked pretty sad.  “I demanded information.  Where were the other Infested?   I… I actually kind of wish I didn’t get an answer…  So, like I mentioned when we first met, where I come from, regional disputes are common.  The Ice Knights, the group I was a part of, serve as peacekeepers.   Despite our best efforts, some regions still quest for power.  One such region, The Zeta Empire, is ruled by a group of Digimon who want to expand their territory.  They evidently discovered a deposit of Black Digitron, a substance that greatly increases a Digimon’s power.  The Infested are actually citizens of the Zeta Empire who volunteered to have their data altered in an effort to further their reign.”

Sara glanced at everyone to make sure we were all still following, “A downside of the Black Digitron is it eventually ends up causing a Digimon to go berserk,  The Zeta Empire quickly lost control of their subjects. They stopped their experiments and tried to cover it up.  The ones they had already installed the Digitron into were horded up and dumped into the world of Liberator.   Most of them didn’t survive the harsh environment of Liberator, and the ones that were left were hunted down and deleted by my commanding officer.  As far as I know, the Gargomon we defeated today may be one of the only surviving members of the Infested. “

Dan, shocked and with wide eyes, asked, “So what happened to the Gargomon after he told you all that?”

Sara shrugged. “Well, once he realized I wasn’t working with my commanding officer, he was completely complaint.  And, it’s not as if he had gone berserk,  Not yet, anyways.  I decided to just let him go.  If he’s lucky enough to survive in Liberator, I say he suffered enough.  Imagine being exiled by your homeland for something they did to you.”

I scoffed.  “Dude.  You believed him? Why on earth would you believe that?  He could have made the whole thing up!”

Sara’s eyes burned with both rage and sadness.  ” Before I lost consciousness, and before David and you found me, I witnessed the Commander seal the portal back to our home world.  That goes against everything we have been trained to do.  My teammates all made it home, but I got left behind in the scuffle. The Commander hadn’t realized he left behind a witness.”

I rolled my eyes. “And?  How does that relate to anything the Gargomon said? “

Sara took a deep beath.  “The Commander originally grew up in the Zeta Empire.  The only reason he would break protocol is because he was helping cover this all up. “

WOOOOOOW!

Things sure are getting interesting!

I’m actually excited to learn what happens next!

I…do feel bad for Sara.  I can’t imagine how betrayed she must feel.
