Dis One Time: Sara Found a Flaw In My Logic

Sara laid on her tummy, kicking her legs in the air. “Warp Digivolution?”

Dan closed his eyes and thought.  “Thats the one when they skip from their little form all the way to the end form, right?”

Sara checked the tome she got from Magna.  “Yup!”

I looked up from my card binder.  “Actually, Warp is just skipping a level.  You don’t necessarily have to go from Rookie to Mega.”

Sara stared daggers at me.  “You know what?  Why you gotta be like that?  Dan and I are new to all these Digivolution methods.  Back where I came from all we had was one level to the next.  We haven’t been studying Digivolution for 20 years like you have.”

I was putting some of my new cards away.  The Kid worked some overtime, and we decided to improve my decks some.  Infact, David was at work for a few more hours.   Sara and Dan were trying to learn more about being Tamer and Digimon.  She was quizzing him by reading some of the books Sara borrowed from Magna the Wizardmon.  Todays lesson, apparently, was on the different forms of Digivolution.

“I think you’re just mad because I beat you at the card game yesterday.”  Sara smirked.

“There is way more to being a Digimon than the card game.  You got the V-Pets, you got the various Digivices…  Heck, this isn’t even the only version of the card game!  Wait until you read about Hyper Colosseum.” I said, as I opened another envelope and took out the cards.

“So, Grizzly.  You traveled to the world of Digimon Adventure, right?”  Sara was up to something, but I couldn’t tell what.

“Yea…”

“And the Tamers Universe…”

“Its been a while, but yes…”

“And, as you traveled to all these different worlds, you Digivolved into lots of different Digimon…..Right?”

“Yeah, I average like three new forms a Universe. Why?  What’s this about?”

“It says here that in the V-Pets, of which you descended from, Digimon had multiple forms, and they frequently evolved into drastically different beings…”

“YOUR POINT?”

“You acknowledge that you have the potential to become different Digimon, You also have shown that based on what universe you travel too, you may or may not evolve into forms you have, or have not, been before.  That’s what you are saying, yes?”

I just looked at her, very annoyed, and nodded.

“The card game, or more specifically, the world of Digimon Liberator, is a new universe that you travel to.  So…. Why are you so fixated on having one deck, and that deck being solely a deck made of forms you have been before.  Did it ever occur to you that you would have an easier time learning the card game if you weren’t so closed minded on what Digimon you can and can’t use?”

“Listen here, Miss-Knows-Everything-Because-You-Read-A-Book-One-Time!  Digimon may seem random, but there are rules!”

“Okay, and in Liberator, RustTyrannomon is a green Digimon,  Any Green Digimon can Digivolve into it, correct?  Those are the rules….so….why can’t you use a green deck?”

“There isn’t a Green Gazimon…” I blurted, happy to point out the flaw in her logic.

“Yes, but RustTyrannomon evolves from DarkTyrannomon, MetalTyrannomon, and ExTyrannomon.  All four of those Digimon come from the Version 5 V-Pet.  So, wouldn’t that mean that they themselves are ‘Gazimon’ cards.” She smiled, proud of herself .

“It doesn’t work like that.” I grumbled.

“Oh, but it does!”  She cheered! “You can use any V-Pet that has a Version 5 Digimon on it.  For example, you use the Metal Empire Pendulem Color, because it has both Machinedramon and Chaosdramon.”

I tried not to look surprised, but she had a point.  “I…guess so…”

She looked at me, a giant grin stretched out over her face. “Did you even TRY to use a different deck?  Or did you just assume you needed a Gazimon card.”

I didn’t answer.

“Dude!  You didn’t even try?  This whole time you only merged with decks because it physically had a Gazimon card? ” She chuckled.

I still didn’t answer.

“Wait….That one time we were watching that one person play online. What was her name?  Close?  Didn’t her Partner merge with an Evolution card?”  She was laughing more than talking now. “So we know it’s possible.  We have seen it happen before.”

“I’m gonna get the laptop.  I want to look up a few things.”  I got up and left Dan and Sara in the front of the apartment.

I heard Dan tell Sara “You know, you’re staring to get a pretty sarcastic streak. Must get that from him.”

She laughed some more. “Hey, at least it got him to let us study in peace.  Now, do you know what Armor Digivolution is, Dan?”

The nerve, I tell you.

Grizzly.
